CONGRATULATIONS to GLADYS NILSEN, Ms U.S. Virgin Islands Senior America 2017!
Gladys Nilsen has six children (all professionals) and 12 grandchildren.
Gladys worked as an Assistant Librarian; after early retirement, she pursued an Acting/Singing career with great success...Now she is an: Actress, Singer, Author, Composer, Bilingual and Voiceover Performer. She worked in: Films, Documentaries, Theatre, Commercials, and Spanish Voice Over.
As a singer, Off Broadway, Manhattan night clubs (Metropolitan Room, Algonquin Hotel and others). Abroad, Royal Theatre Bahamas, Poland and Chile.
- She performs for the elderly at Community Center and Nursing/Rehabilitation Centers, where most of her audiences are in wheel chairs.
- She organized a Senior Citizen group to perform at the Community Center for Christmas party celebration.
Her first job as an actress was with the French actor Ives Montand.
She is author of a Fiction Book "On a Sad Gray Afternoon", translated Into English, French and Spanish, selling as a Nook Book at Barnes & Noble.
She composed a ballad in Spanish, "Un Regazo de Amor". She lived in Chile, Peru, Belgium and the United States where she Resides for 33 years. Long time ago, she became an American Citizen.
A World traveler, she visited Canada and nine (9) Countries in Europe. It's important to mention that in Poland she visited Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Also Israel, South, America, Central America and the Caribbean. In each country talked to the people, and learned about their culture. Her conclusion: "ALL HUMAN BEINGS ARE THE SAME YET, SO UNIQUE".
- Gladys was a Guest Speaker at the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations.
- Gladys is in the "Guinness World Records Book" 2015.
- Gladys received the award of "Latin American Woman 2000" - in NYC.
- She was Correspondent of 'TEMAS', the oldest Spanish Magazine of NY As a Political, Cultural and Social Magazine, going to the Libraries across the US.
- She is a Member of the Preservation Society of Newport County, Rhode Island, And "The Nature Conservancy" of Hawaii.
- Member of Hispanic Organization for Latin Actors, NYC.
